  • "The craziest thing about it is that it looks like she was doing so little but what she was doing helped me to do so much more and feel so much more."

    — Rhys, student, age 12

  • "The lesson was so so helpful! I've been pretty frustrated with my playing and setup recently, and today made it extremely clear what I need to do to move forward! It was really inspiring. "

  • "My coachings with Miriam have been truly transformational! Her gentle approach has allowed me to find a renewed comfort in my daily body use, and her musical understanding has helped clarify how to integrate the principles of AT in my musical performance. Every coaching has a tangible effect that improves my life - whether it's a new piece of information about how my body works, or even just a simple question she asks that rings in my head for weeks after the coaching. I highly recommend!

  • "Shortly before I met Miriam for the first time, I had written this comment on a friend's Facebook post: "getting 3 kids to practice their instruments is the most stressful daily challenge I have in my life." First world problems, yes, but sometimes the battles that surface daily are the most stressful and like the tip of the iceberg, indicating there might be something deeper. I signed up for Practice in Harmony coaching with the altruistic idea that this could help me to help my kids through the daily grind of practicing, so that my kids could be better musicians… Miriam asked me, "why is music worthwhile?" I did some reading, and came to our sessions excited to discuss Yo-Yo Ma with a world-class cello teacher. Yo-Yo Ma said that to be a musician, you first have to be human. He also has said so many beautiful words how music moves molecules of air that physically touch the human body, while moving the soul. I coupled this with the often-quoted reminder about parenting, which is to put on your own oxygen mask (give yourself air) before helping your child secure their mask. To be a good practice partner for my kids, first I needed to be a good parent, and to be a good parent, I needed to put on my own oxygen mask first. I stopped stressing so much about whether my kids were practicing their instruments, and instead, I started practicing the piano. I realize, this may not be everyone's experience or desired end outcome, but that's just where I am right now. I am very grateful to Miriam because I'm also surprised by this outcome, and it's thanks to her coaching that I'm at this point in my journey. "
